Our Route

Babs and  I have finalized our itinerary and reservations have been made.  We have reservations all the way from home, to and while touring Alaska, and ending in Seattle, WA where we will meet our daughter Katy and her husband Jason.  This will insure that we have lodging, which is a premium in parts of Canada and Alaska.  The drawback is that, due to many 48 hour cancellation policies, we will have to stick to our plan.  Babs is freaking out over gas prices and constantly complains that gas will bankrupt us!  She is also convinced that the "Pacific Ring of Fire" is working it's way to the west coast of the mainland US and Alaska.  She is sure that we are driving toward disaster.  Ho-Hum!  Hopefully, weather, gas prices, Ring of Fire and other circumstances will cooperate.

Alaska Road Trip June 2011

On June 3rd my wife Babs and I will set out on a planned six week road trip from our home in Silver Spring, Maryland to Alaska , Seattle, Washington and back.  We will be driving our 2011 GM Acadia AWD  SUV that we have named Abe.  This trip could not be possible without the assistance of our son Frank and his wife, Lisa who have agreed to move into our house and care for our cat while we make this trip.

Although we have made lodging reservations for the entire trip, we are still in the planning stages of the trip.  By the end of March we will have retraced our steps and consulted the Mile Post Magazine to insure the travel times planned are realistic.  Once we have finalized our plans, I will post our itinerary.
