Florida.Trip... Relatively Speaking, Day One

We started our trip down to the Sunshine State in a constant mist and a cool 37 degrees. Our first stop of the day was in Ashland, VA to attend the 70th birthday party for Jason's dad, Katy's father-in-law, Jim Carneal. The party held at the Henry Clay Inn, was planned and executed by Katy and Jason.

The party was attended by 26 friends and relatives and was a total surprise which was evident by Jim's face. The center piece of the party was a cake that Katy and Jason purchased from Cakes Plus in Laurel, MD that had an absolutely beautiful photo of Jim airbrushed onto the cake. It really was a marvel to behold!

The food, salad, pork and chicken bar-b-que, Cole slaw, macaroni & cheese, and baked beans was preceded by appetizers of a meat & cheese tray, vegetable tray, spinach balls, and crab bites.  Libations were beer, wine, mixed drinks, and soft drinks.Unfortunately, we're still learning to use the Canon camera we purchased to replace the piece of junk expensive Olympus camera which broke on the Yellowstone trip. Because of that, most of our photos weren't clear enough to publish. All in all, a great party! Thanks for including us!

After Jim opened his many great gifts, we continued south on I-95, the most monotonous roads in the US. We finally put up for the night in Wilson, NC where we are at a Jameson Inn. Tonight dinner is at Cracker Barrel, not one of our favorites, but it is close.

Tomorrow, Savannah, GA.
