Day 29,Olympia national Park mountain section

Day 29 started out sunny. This is our view from the deck this morning, quite different that yesterday.
Katy and Jason got up early to catch the lowest, low tide so that they could explore the tidal pools. They said that it was a difficult hike but well worth it. They saw all sorts of sea creatures, star fish, mussels, and other forms of sea life.
After breakfast, we headed out to see the mountain section of Olympic National Park. On the way we saw this buck deer with his antlers still in “velvet”.
After an hour and a half drive, we arrived at Hurricane Ridge with its beautiful vistas. The ride up took us from sun to fog to bright sun. You could see for miles and the views were breath taking.
Driving back down was much harder because the fog had risen up the mountain and became thicker. We literally had to do 10 miles per hour or less to see the road. Before getting into the fog, Katy spotted this large Black bear.
On the way back home, we stopped at Crescent Lake which has beautiful emerald green water and is over eight miles long.
Then on to the hot springs where Katy and Jason took a soak!
As I said yesterday, this whole area is “Twilight” movie nuts.
Katy had to stop and get her picture taken next to the official Vampire threat meter.
Dinner was Chinese “take out”.
After dinner we headed down to our beach for the last time to hopefully watch a sunset. Jason started a fire on the beach and we all sat around and waited for the sunset.

Katy and Jason enjoyed roasting marshmallows
and finally sunset of sorts!
Tomorrow, we leave for Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier.

Babs Says:  Beauty is everywhere you look, except in the slimy black slugs. I guess their moms think they are beautiful.
Very glad I didn’t go in the hot springs after Katy described the changing room. Sounded like small junior high locker room. Yuk.

*Once again, thanks to Jason & Katy for the use of many of their photos!
