Day 6, Mostly more of the same.

Day 6 of our great Alaskan adventure started off wet.  Before getting started we went shopping for more picnic supplies and to replace the battery charger for our Cannon camera which I left plugged in a wall socket at the North Dakota Best Western.  The long and short of it is I replaced a $15 wall & auto charger with a $45 wall charger.  Fuel has gone from $1.099 per liter in Alberta Provence to $1.339 per liter her in British Columbia.  The desk clerk said don’t worry it gets more expensive the more north you travel!  Oh well!

The ride took us through mostly flat forested area with brief periods of rolling hills.

At one point we left the main highway and took a side trip over a bridge and through a canyon that was very pretty.  Rest areas at plentiful, clean, and self flushing!  For those spoiled few folks who don’t know what self flushing means, is that it is a pit.

We ate lunch at a neat Provincial Park near a lake.  There was still a small ice sheet floating near the boat ramp.  Highs have only been in the high 50’s.

Dawson Creek is the official start of the Alaskan Highway.  We had to go down town and get this photo.

It’s been such an exciting day Babs’ thought that we should share a shot of our bug covered front license plate.  Keep in mind that we have had the car washed two days ago and it rained last night.

Tonight we are at the Best Western Dawson Creek, BC.  The room is very nice but has no desk.  At least that gave Bab’s something to complain about.  She’s been so agreeable I thought she was getting sick on me!
Speaking of Bab’s!

Bab’s says: Does anybody really know what time it is?  Does anybody really care?  Very confusing!  We have been in three time zones and in and out of daylight savings time.  The “I-phone” will say a time, but then the locals say it is wrong because their town doesn’t believe in daylight savings time!  This is not the trip for “foodies”.  Food has been so poor I’m looking forward to finding a Golden Coral!  Tonight…..He Tarzan, me Jane!  Our room, use your imagination!
