Day Two of our great Alaskan Adventure

Last night we ate at Denny’s, which we would normally never do but it was near the hotel.  We were pleasantly surprised to find the food pretty good and best of all, Thursday there is a Gezer discount of 25%!  Day two had us driving through Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and just into North Dakota for a total of 681.5 miles.  We had planned to drive less miles, staying in St. Cloud, MN but got there to early to stop for the night.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see my flight school buddy, Tommy Nelson, a true American hero, who retired from the U.S. Army as a Colonel after serving in Vietnam where he was wounded, and Iraq.  Thanks for serving Tommy!
Today’s scenic award goes to Wisconsin.  The green rolling hills and its farms are truly beautiful.  Babs had great fun singing her favorite song, "99 Dead Dears On the Road".  If you can’t tell, Wisconsin owns the most dead dear on the road state that we’ve seen so far.  Someone should definitely start a road kill restaurant here.!
Minnesota is truly the 10,000 lake state.  If it’s not underwater, it’s farmed.  Truly amazing the amount of acreage under disc.  It also has the most “Duh” drivers who do five miles over the speed limit in the right lane and fifteen miles under the speed limit when they move into the left lane.  Most of the speed limit in Minnesota is 60 MPH, even if you are out in the boondocks.
Tonight we are at a beautiful Best Western in Fargo, ND which unfortunately is overrun with screaming kids.  We a really glad our four “Angels” weren’t like that!
Today, the Acadia got 21.8 MPG, which exceeded my expectations.
Tomorrow, two National Parks in North Dakota.
Bab’s says:  If she dies and comes back as a cow, she wants to live in Wisconsin near a bull stud farm.  Beautiful pristine cattle farms and they don’t  slaughter, only hake your milk for cheese.  She definitely doesn’t want to be a deer in Wisconsin!
